Hello Friends! It’s Marie back on the blog! Today I’m sharing a fun jungle themed birthday card featuring the totally adorable Portrait Pals Stamp Set.

To create my card, I started by die cutting a white base panel from Neenah Solar White Cardstock paper using the Nesting Deckle A2 Die. I then lightly inked the edges of the panel with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to get it a weathered look.  I then die cut the background panel from a purple pattern paper and ink blended the edges with Pawsitively Saturated inks in the colors Amethyst and Orchid. To darken the edges even further, I went in with Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide. Next, I splattered the background with gold watercolor and watered down white acrylic paint. Then I adhered my background panel to the base using double sided tape adhesive.

Next, I used the Tropical Foliage Die to cut out all the tropical leaves from watercolor paper. I colored the leaves with Faber Castell watercolor pencils, and splattered them with some gold watercolor to add interest.

White waiting for my leaves to dry, I stamped out my images onto watercolor paper using Antique Linen Distress Ink and colored them with Faber Castell watercolor pencils.  I pulled some images from other stamp sets including the Pig Day Stamps for the cute birthday hats, and the Party on the Farm Stamp for the cupcakes. Then I cut out the images with the Portrait Pals Dies, Pig Day Dies, and Party on the Farm Die.

Next, with the Birch Trees Die , I die cut a tree for the animals to hold on to, from Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I inked up the tree using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and Rustic Wilderness. To create the sentiment, I used the Sending Hugs Words DieI also used the Jungle King Stamp Set for the “Wild Birthday Wishes”.

Finally, after playing with placement and adhered everything down using a combination of double sided tape adhesive and Bearly art Precision Craft Glue. I used foam strips to prop up my tree so I could tuck all the leaves and critters under. I used a bit of foam tape to prop up the cupcake. I added some finishing touches with Glossy Accents on top of the “Sending”, and the cupcakes. I also added some Stickles Glitter Glue on the Birthday Hats, and Ta-da! All done!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card inspiration as much as I enjoyed creating it. I love the rich greens and purples in this one and these jungle cuties are too cute! That’s it for me today! Until next time, Happy Cardmaking!!  -Marie
