Happy New Year Crafty Friends! It’s Marie! Thanks for joining me today for my first blog post of 2024! Today I have a very simple New Years Card featuring the adorable Carried Away stamp set.
To create this card, I started by using a rectangle die from the Nesting A7 Die set to cut my base panel from 110. lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock. With a smaller rectangle die from the same set, I cut my background panel from two toned pattern paper. To create my purple background, I used Seedless Preserves Distress Ink to lightly ink around the edges of the pattern paper slowly working the ink towards the center. To achieve the dark outer edges, I layered on Uncharted Mariner Distress Ink. To create an ethereal look, I added some white paint splatters. Then, I adhered my background panel to my white base panel using double sided tape adhesive.
For the Happy New Year sentiment, I used the Jane Small Alpha die to cut the letters two times from a heavyweight cardstock. I then adhered the letters together to create subtle dimension.
Next, I stamped my images onto watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I used Faber-Castell Watercolor Pencils to color all the images. I then die cut them out with the coordinating Carried Away Dies. I also used a white gel pen to add some white detailing to the images.
After playing with placement, I adhered my images to my background using foam tape and double sided tape adhesive. I adhered my letters using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. Finally for the finishing touch, I added some sparkle with a scattering of gold glitter stars.
Presto! Card done! I can’t wait to see all the crafty things 2024 has in store! I wish everyone all the creative inspiration for this new year! Until next time, Happy Crafting!
