Today I’m sharing a holiday card with the new Candy Cane Lane die set. I love the large candy cane in this set and it works great as a background pattern.
I began by die cutting the candy cane die several times. There are two parts to this die – the solid base piece, which I die cut from red sparkle card, then the stripy top layer, which I die cut from white sparkle card. I adhered the pieces together to make a total of 7 candy canes.
Next, I cut a piece of kraft card to 6″ square. I adhered this to my card base, then stamped a sentiment from the Big Christmas Greetings stamp set in black ink.
To complete the sentiment, I die cut the Merry word from the Christmas Words #1 die set from gold glitter card. I added two white card layers behind, then adhered it on my card base.
I arranged the candy canes around the card, making sure to place some over the edge to give the illusion that the pattern continues. Where I cut away some overlapping, I was able to use those pieces in other places on the card.
