Hello Sweet Friends! It’s Marie on the blog! Today I’m sharing a “Thinking of You Card” that combines images from the Strawberry Patch stamp set and the Bloomin Happy stamp set. I created my card around the adorable little mouse and his strawberry atop of some magical toadstools for a dreamy storybook night scene. As soon as I saw these stamps, I immediately fell in love with all the images in both sets! The sweet elements and adorable critters make it so fun to mix and match sets to create endless scenes for every occasion.
I started off my card by stamping out all my images onto watercolor paper using the water soluble Distress Ink in the color Antique Linen. I colored all my images with Faber-Castell Watercolor pencils and cut them out using their corresponding dies. I used the Strawberry Patch Die to cut out the adorable mouse, and the Blooming Happy Die to cut out all the beautiful mushrooms.
I created my lush green climbing vines using the Tropical Foliage Die . I cut out all my foliage from watercolor paper and colored them using various shades of green Derwent Inktense Pencils.
For my card front, I used the Nesting Deckle Mini Slimline Die to create my base and background panels. I used the largest of the dies to cut out my base panel from 110 lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock paper. For my background panel, I used the next size down to cut my background panel from a light turquoise colored cardstock paper. I inked up my background paper starting with Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink and lightly blended from the edges towards the middle. Taking a darker shade of Distress Ink in the color Uncharted Mariner, I repeated the process. To darken the edges even further and creating a gradient from darkest to lightest, I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink to darken all the edges. After inking, I lightly added some water splatters and went in with a white Gelly Roll pen and drew in some stars.
For the grass portion, I used the Grassy Knoll Die . I inked up the grass using a combination of Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink with light water splatters. I then attached my background panel to my white base using double sided tape adhesive. I inked the edges of the white base with Vintage Photo Distress Ink for added interest.
When I was happy with how I placed all my images and vines, I adhered everything to my background. I adhered the grass first, followed by the mushrooms and mouse. I used foam adhesive to give the images dimension so they pop forward from the scene. I layed down the vines and adhered them all using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. Finally, I added a sentiment from the Typed Everyday Stamp and cut it out using the smallest die in the Nesting A7 Die set .
Presto! A finished card with a very storybook vibe! I just love how this card turned out! Thank you for joining me today! I hope I’ve inspired you to have fun coloring and cardmaking! Until next time, Happy Crafting!
