Hello Crafty Friends! It’s Marie back on the blog! Today I’m sharing a birthday card featuring the super cute celebratory critters from the Party Parade Stamp. I’ve paired todays images with the Summer Woods Scene Die to create a wonderful sunset backdrop for a critter party parade in the woods.
To start off, I cut my background from bristol smooth cardstock using the Summer Woods Scene Die. I also cut a slimline sized panel from bristol smooth cardstock which will be the base for which my scene dies adhere to. Starting at the top of my slimline panel, I ink blended my sunset sky using Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and from the bottom up, I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink. I let the two inks meet in the middle where I went back in with Seedless Preserves to blend out any harsh lines and upon blending the two ink colors, I created a gorgeous orange shade. I also added some water splatters to the background for a bit of light texture adding to the warmth of a summer sunset.
The tree tops and grass were inked using Twisted Citron Distress Ink and JalapeƱo Pepper Dye Ink from MftStamps. For all the trees, I used Copic Markers in the Colors (E35, E 37, and E29). I used a white Prismacolor color pencil to add some white highlights.
Next, I stamped out all my images from Party Parade onto watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils to color in all my images. I then cut out all the images using the corresponding Parade Party Dies.
Finally, I paper pieced all the trees and grass on top of my inked background and played with placement of all the images. I adhered everything using Bearly Art Precision craft glue and double sided foam strips to add dimension to a few of the critters.
I just love how this card came together! Since we are inching more and more into summer where all my family member’s birthdays happen, this card will definately be finding a new home soon! Thank you for joining me today friends! Until next time, Happy Cardmaking!
Love the beautiful background!
HI Cindy! Thanks so much!
Beautiful card! Can you give us a tutorial on how you colored these images?
Hi Jenna, Thanks so much for your lovely comment! At the moment, I’m unable to create a tutorial on how to color, but I can direct you to K Werner Design on Youtube. If you search for her channel, she has some great videos on Noline coloring with watercolors!
