Hi Bluebird friends, Sara here! Today it’s my turn on the Hello Bluebird blog and I have some “Tropical Fun” to share with you.

School has finished and I promised myself I would have organized all the supplies in my craftroom…and while I was working on Hello Bluebird products I came across the Tropical Foliage Die which I have never used before. And this was the perfect occasion to work with them!

I firstly chose the color palette, since I had to die cut a lot, I looked into my colored cardstock stash. I used several colors (Sage Leaf, Sunflower, Rainforest, Guava and Raspberry from Lawn Fawn, Grass Green and Peach Bellini from Gina K Designs) and I die cut a bunch of foliage from each one of them. If you haven’t many colored cardstock, you can certainly die cut from white cardstock and then add colors with your Copics. When everything was cut, I decided to add some soft shadows on my leaves, using a darker coordinating Copic (I could have skipped this, but I love details!).

I then arranged everything on a 3.75″x5.75″ (cut from one of the Nesting A7 Die) white cardstock and I didn’t like all the white spaces behind the foliage. That’s why I decided to stamp the Falling Snow Background to add some black dots. I then glued down all the leaves and I moved to the sentiment.

I used the Wild About You Words Die, but I fussy cut only the first word, since I planned to stamp the rest of the sentiment. I layered a white die cut behind the black one, to create a sort of shadow and I also added some white gel pen details. I stamped the rest of the sentiment (which comes from Jungle Littles Stamp) on a white strip and I added it below the WILD word.

Here I realized I would have added a stamped image too, and this toucan from Silly Birds Stamp was the perfect addition. I stamped it and colored with the Copics listed below:

  • Body: C10 – B99 – B97 – B95 | YG00 – YG0000
  • Beak: BG07 – BG15 – BG11 | RV66 – RV25 – RV23 | YR07 – YR04 – Y17 | C10 – C8

To complete the card, I matted it twice, firstly with a slightly larger black panel and then with a 4,25″x6,25″ white one.

Thanks for stopping by, I really hope you will like the card I created, I just cannot wait to create a baby girl version using the same layout. Have a happy and crafty weekend!

Hugs from Italy!
