Today I have a post using the new holiday set called Cocoa Party. I am always a big advocate of getting as much use out of our stamp sets as possible. I decided to use this stamp set for a New Years card with a little creativity for the greeting.
I started by die-cutting the Warm Wishes die out of a card size piece of watercolor paper (5.5″ x 4.25″). I left all of the letters in place and adhered it to a card base. I then painted over it with blue, turquoise, and gray blue watercolor using a wash technique (wet on wet).
I also die-cut the Warm Wishes die out of white cardstock and I attached this one over the watercolored card front using foam dots behind the letters to pop it up a bit. I stamped the words “for the new year” using two stamp sets including Christmas is Coming (for word year which I had to cut off the end of one of the greeting stamps) and Farmyard Little Bits (for words “for the new”). I attached this little greeting banner tucked underneath Warm Wishes.
I stamped all of the little animals from the Cocoa Party Stamp set with a light color of ink for no-line stamping. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I attached them to the top of the card, tucking them underneath “warm wishes”. I used foam tape behind the skunk so he is shown over the word. I tied a small piece of twine on the “W” and then added 3 sparkling clear confetti sequins.
Thank you so much for visiting today and have a Happy New Year (per my card of course) friends! xoxo Suzy
