Hi Hello Bluebird friends! I’m new here, so I hope you enjoy my very first HB blog post! I’ve used the Pig Day Stamp and Pig Day Die to make a slim-line card (inspired by my good friend Nicky who makes the best ones out there!). Here is a full sized image of the card:
I started this card with an 8.5″ x 3.5″ piece of white cardstock. I cut a second one and die-cut the Hill and Dale Die along the edge twice to reach the full length of the piece. I did that a second time with a different Hill and Dale Die so I had two pieces to layer. I applied Distress Oxide Inks with an ink blender to my ground pieces and my sky. For the ground, I used Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen. For the sky I used Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass. I attached the two ground pieces overlapping over the sky and attached that to a white card base.
Next, I stamped all of my images from the stamp set with a light color of ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I use a mix of Prismacolors and Polychromos by Faber-Castelle. I then outlined all of the images with a fine tip black marker. Don’t ask me why I do it this way as it adds a step – you can just stamp in black ink to get a similar look!
Next, I attached all of the images to my background. I then stamped the sentiment on a banner from the Stitched Tag Builder Die with green ink. I tucked one edge under one of the balloons.
That is it for today friends! I will be back soon as I love my Hello Bluebird stamps so much and I’m so happy to be on the design team! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy 🙂
Love your card, Suzy! I especially love the use of pencil as the medium. And I thought it interesting that you used your pen after the fact – but not unusual. I use a pen that way at times too. I usually do it after I’ve watercolored. It must be because we’re both named Suzy/Susie *hahaha* Your first post was wonderful and I’ve enjoyed your artwork for a long time!
so very adorable!
