Hi everybody this is Nicky with you today with a slimline card using a fun, older stamp set by Hello Bluebird called Silly Birds …. perhaps you have it?!

Many of you seem to love this slimline format that I’ve been using a great deal lately. The finished dimensions for this card are 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. Take a sheet of your cardstock and trim at 7 inches then score and fold at 3 1/2 (4 bar). You will have remaining cardstock from which you can cut your panel – I chose to cut mine at 8.2 x 3.2 inches. This also leaves a strip of cardstock which you might find useful for a sentiment on you card or to be kept for a future project.

With my base and panel prepared I ink blended the panel with Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn, Tumbled Glass and Spun Sugar. I blended using Clarity Stencil Brushes for a flawless, delicate finish.

Next, I grabbed some Bristol Smooth cardstock. I stamped my images using Ranger Archival Ink in Potting Soil and watercolour painted everything with the following colours. Kuretake Zigs in Light Carmine 021, Light Blue 036 and Light Green 041. I also used a Tombow in 991.

I highlighted one or two points using a Uni-ball Signo white gel pen then die cut the images. I decided on an arrangement for my scene including where my sentiment would go, I stamped the sentiment then took a quick photo on my iPhone in case I forgot the arrangement and then adhered everything using dimensional foam tape.

The finishing touch was to adhere ‘water droplet’ style embellishments using Ranger Multi-Medium Matte because it is strong and dries clear. I adhered my panel to the base. Card complete!

Thank you for stopping by the blog today to read about this card, I hope you are inspired to create your own slimline cards, taking your creations to new heights and lengths. See you next time!
