Today I’m sharing a card featuring the Hello Bluebird Hippos on Holiday stamp set and coordinating dies. We are experiencing a heat wave in the U.K. and just looking at this scene makes me want to visit the seaside!
I love to create cards with images that pop out of the scene. I think it brings the whole card together when the scene isn’t constrained.
I began by die cutting a circle aperture in a piece of white card, the same size as my card base.
On the card base, I masked off areas for some ink blending. The sand is a blend of distress oxides in antique linen with a touch of wild honey. I also added some sand detail with my E50 copics.
The sea is a blend of distress oxides in broken china and peacock feathers, flicked with water for lots of detail.
For the sky, as I don’t have a light blue distress oxide ink, I grabbed a dye ink instead to add a little colour to the sky.
I stamped and coloured lots of images from the Hippos on Holiday stamp set, then die cut them with the coordinating dies. I wanted some greenery so found a die in the Tropical Foliage set that reminded me of palm tree leaves. I die cut some from white card, then added colour with my copic markers.
I layered two of the leaves and the beach towel onto the card base, then used liquid glue to add the panel over the top. I used a mix of liquid adhesive and foam tape to add the remaining images to the card.
To finish, I stamped one of the greetings from the stamp set in the top left corner.
Thank you for joining me today,
Gemma
LOVE this!
How adorable and fun is this hippo !!
I love the bright colors and how the circle frames the scene but doesn’t constrain it.
