Hello, Gemma here today. Thank you so much for joining me for my first post on the Hello Bluebird blog! I’m excited to be here.
For my card today, I’m featuring the adorable new Rainy Day stamp set. The images in this set allow for some great scene building.

I began with a white card rectangle, stamping a couple of images from the Rainy Day stamp set, along with a sentiment from the Rainbow Script stamp set. These sets team so well together. I then created masks using full sticky post-it notes, to protect the stamping. I also added a strip of masking tape at the feet of the characters, to give an area of white below and protect the stamped sentiment.

Next, I blended on distress oxide inks, in broken china and faded jeans, above the masked line. I concentrated the darker colour towards the lower edge and faded out the ink towards the top, leaving the lightest area above the umbrella. I flicked the panel with water for some droplet details. My favourite part is removing the masking tape afterwards, to reveal the crisp white images underneath.

Once the panel was dry, I coloured in the images with copic markers. I added some white gel pen details, plus some black gel pen to the eyes and the dog’s nose. I also went over some of the stamped lines with a copic multiliner pen, as the distress oxide ink can dull the intensity. Finally, I added a few clear sparkling jewels on the white space around the sentiment.

Have a great day,
Gemma
